Somatic & Emotional Support Group for Teenagers
Somatic & Emotional Support Group for Teenagers | Gold Coast
If you are a parent reading this, you may have noticed that something has shifted in your teenager. Perhaps they are withdrawing, struggling with anxiety or low mood, finding it harder to manage stress or emotions, or simply seeming disconnected from themselves and the people around them. You may have tried to help and found that the usual approaches aren’t quite reaching them.
If you are a teenager reading this — welcome. This group was created for you.
Growing up has always been demanding. But adolescence today carries a particular weight, including the pressure to perform academically, socially, and online, while simultaneously navigating identity, belonging, and a body and nervous system that are still finding their shape. For many young people, and as experience has repeatedly demonstrated, this pressure builds quietly until it shows up as anxiety, emotional overwhelm, withdrawal, or a persistent sense of not quite fitting in or knowing who they are.
This is a small, supportive, and trauma-informed somatic group for teenagers navigating exactly that terrain. A space that is safe, grounded, and genuinely relatable, where young people can begin to understand what they are feeling, why their nervous system responds the way it does, and how to build real tools for managing the inner and outer pressures of growing up.
Through gentle somatic practices, guided reflection, and facilitated group discussion, the group supports adolescents to develop tools for managing anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm, build emotional regulation and nervous system awareness, strengthen self-esteem, self-trust, and confidence, express themselves safely and authentically, feel less alone through healthy peer connection, and cultivate a steadier, more grounded sense of who they are.
This is not therapy in the traditional sense. It is a developmentally appropriate, embodied, and peer-supported space where young people learn relational and emotional skills that will serve them well beyond the group itself. It complements individual therapy or counselling and offers something that one-to-one work cannot, in terms of the experience of being genuinely understood by peers navigating similar terrain.
